In round two in Dubai

01.03.2006 | Tennis

Roger returned from a month's vacation and began his bid for a fourth straight Dubai Open title, beating Stanislaus Wawrinka 7-6 (3), 6-3 in an all-Swiss match in the first round.

Roger said Stanislas pressured him into several unforced errors. "I am quite pleased with the way I played," Roger said. "I really don't care about the bad shots as long as the end result is fine."

Roger's last victory against Stanislas dates back a year in Rotterdam, where he showed a more solid victory (6-1, 6-4)l

Roger will next play 488th-ranked Kuwaiti wild card Mohammed Al Ghareeb.
