Aiming for 40 victories in series

01.03.2007 | Tennis

Roger defeated Novak Djokovic 6-3, 6-7 (6), 6-3 for his 39th straight victory and advanced to the semifinals at the Dubai Championships.

It looked like another clear win for Roger but then things did become a bit more difficult towards the end of the second set. But he then managed to make everything clear in the final set, breaking Djokovic to love to take a 5-3 lead. “I was very happy with the way I was able to finish the match,” Roger said – having made 52 unforced errors during the encounter.

Roger’s next opponent will be Tommy Haas, who is experiencing a great start of the year with 17 wins in 19 matches. He won the tournament in Memphis, played the first two rounds in Dubai and has now found back to great shape in the quarter final. Roger has played Haas nine times, the head-to-head is at 7-2; Roger has won their last six duels.

Think positive Roger! This "court' is quick and so are you. You can play well in any surface... a sign of a true champion.
So, get ready to claim back the Dubai title. We will be cheering you all the way.
Best wishes.

Too bad, Nadal lost early again. I would have enjoyed seeing Roger beat him. He'll never be number 1 at the rate he is going.

Keep it up Roger. You're the best.

I saw where Rafa got beaten so it looks like you will not have to play him. I was hoping you two would meet in the finals. I am so glad I found out I can watch the matches on eurosport.com. I am looking forward to the next one. Good luck as always.

I'm a little sad that Nadal's out of the tournament. Although I am a very strong fan of yours, I grudgingly admire Nadal too, and was hoping that you'd beat him in the finals.....

But great work, and will be rooting for you in the finals.

Hey Fed. This is beautiful tennis man. Your mental game kills, and that almost always leaves some room for you to show your artistry. Hope you win it all this year. By the way, I think Youznhy is playing some intimidating tennis right now.

To Fraze,

My schedule shows that Mr. Federer is scheduled to play Tommy Haas "not before 7am" So. California time. I will be watching at that time, in any event.
