Roger moved into the third round in Dubai after a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Feliciano Lopez today.

In an equal fight and tight first set Roger had his first break points - three to be precise - at 5-4, but he was not able to seize the opportunity at that very moment. Eventually, Roger served 9 aces and got 95% of his first serve points to take the first set 7-5. The second set was similar to the first, with Roger untouchable on serve. Our champ needed just one matchball to win the match after 75 minutes.

In the quarter finals, Roger will meet Mikhail Youzhny (ATP 34). Our champ clearly leads the head-to-head 11-0.

Great match, Rog. I always enjoy watching you and Feliciano because you both play beautiful tennis ( but of course his game cannot match your game in beauty and execution) No one else like you. Good luck in the next one.

Hello Roger,

For a while now you are saying in your interviews that you are feeling fine and even better than you have felt for a long time. This seems to translate to your game as you have been showing fantastic tennis for a few months now. You definitely seem more confident and having won another title recently can't have hurt. An the H2H score was something to build confidence on as well, of zourse :-).

Oh Roger, what a LOVELY match. Classic 1hbh, proper tennis. no baselining boredom, no histrionics, just real, aggressive, fun, lovely shots, great serves from both of you. Feli is such an attractive player just like yourself, I love to see you play each other although of course I always want you to win....... Loved the Llodra match. Surprised he didn't ask for another shirt off your back for the kiddies. Spectacular first set - especially enjoyed you guys sitting down and then having to go back on the court after the hawkeye challenge - oh, I hate that machine. I sometimes slow down my recordings to track the ball and Mr. Hawk is not always correct - I tell you. Looking forward to the taped Lopez match tonight.
