Roger defeated in final

23.03.2015 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger was again unable to stop Novak Djokovic in Indian Wells. The two players showed some amazing tennis, but unfortunately our champion had to admit a 3-6, 7-6(5), 2-6 defeat today.

Roger lost the opening set after dropping his serve once and things didn't look too good in the second set as he was broken again to fall back 2-4. Unfortunately his serve did not work as well as it had in the previous rounds. But Roger made a great comeback as he managed to break Djokovic on his fifth breakpoint to then level at 4-4. In the tie-breaker Djokovic was just two points away from the title on his own serve. But just then his nerves seemed to flatter and he produced two double faults so Roger could level in sets. In the third, Roger fell behind once more, trailing 0-2 but found his way right back to go 2-2. But from then on Djokovic proved the more constant player, leaving no more games to Roger who eventually had to admit his second defeat of the season after 2h 17 of play.

Roger will now take a break, skipping the Masters 1000 tournament in Miami, preparing for the clay season.

NOORMA - A GS to see Roger is a dream for me, wishful thinking, really :'-( A good option to see him is the Masters 1000 in Cinci. I've been there 3 times & have tickets already for 2015. Worth every minute of vacation, every mile driven (~8 hours each way), every penny, every minute waiting to see him practicing & playing! He's the defending champ, so most likely he will play. And the best thing, I've gotten his autograph 5 times!!!😍He's the most amazing person!! (Lots of ATP&WTA)

Agree webmaster wake up! We were away for Indian Wells but really thought that he would win this time! Come on Roger - good luck for the French and Monte Carlo - and Wimbledon of course! We did apply for Wimbledon but no such luck. Has anyone seen the priceson the ticket master website? Ridiculous but its all to do with the Roger effect. Oh well - maybe NY......

Yes, Chardy lost his doublesmatch today so he will play his first singlesmatch tomorrow.
So it must be five wins in five days for Roger..!
