Roger wins Swiss meeting
Roger claimed a third- round win over fellow Swiss and Davis Cup partner Stanislas Wawrinka at the Montreal Masters. The 6-3, 7-6 (5) victory was his 21st consecutive match win.
"It was a tense match, you can never tell until it's over," Roger said. "Stan was serving really well. We played at a high level."
It is only a few months ago (in Monte Carlo in April) that Stan, who won the doubles gold medal at the Beijing Olympic alongside Roger, had beaten our champ. He saved four match points in the tiebreaker this time but then missed a low volley at the net to exit after one and three-quarters hours of play.
With his win Roger led the field into a totally new situation: it is the first time since the rankings began in 1973 that the top eight players in the world have all reached the quarters at the same ATP event!
Roger next meets Jo-Wilfried Tsonga from France.

Keep it up
