Roger was an easy first-round winner Tuesday at the U.S. Open, beating Ivo Minar 6-1, 6-1, 6-1 in a brisk 64 minutes at Ashe Stadium.

 

Roger served a total of 12 aces and held his serve throughout the mismatch, taking home a clear victory against Minar on his US Open debut. Roger is now whopping 65-3 this season, including a co-ATP-best nine titles. French Open champ Rafael Nadal also owns nine championships in this 2005 campaign.

 

Roger's second-round opponent will be crafty Frenchman Fabrice Santoro.

Great first round Rogi. I don't know why all these "fans" have to comment about you taking Nadal down. The better player will rule during that match, and as we all saw Andy's game, don't take anything for granted. I hope you play well. Wish I was there
