Roger defeats Ljubicic
Roger hit back with a 6-4 6-3 win over Ljubicic in the relegation round at the Kooyong Classic. He lost his chance to defend his title when he was beaten by Tommy Haas, but says he is in good shape for the Australian Open.
It was Roger's 12th encounter with Ljubicic with Roger's 9th victory. Last year he had defeated the Croatian at five occasions - in Doha, Rotterdam and Dubai the victories also brought the tournament titles.
"I've tried some things in the past two matches, but now I'll play more like a match," Roger said. After despatching Ljubicic, he is vowing to step up his game to tournament mode for Saturday's contest with former doubles partner Max Mirnyi.
"I don't want to move too far away from my game plan," he said. "I will try to play like I want to at the Open - very solid and consistent. I'll try to play my game."
