Roger cruises into semi-finals
Roger enjoyed a smooth 6-3 6-2 win over Czech Robin Vik, who was playing only his 28th match on the ATP tour, to reach the semi-finals of the Dubai Open.
Roger was rarely stretched by Vik who rallied well at times but had nothing in his game to cause concern. He faced two break points immediately after breaking to lead 2-0 but fired four consecutive aces to hold serve.
Carelessness from Roger allowed Vik to level at 3-3 but the world number one forced a forehand error to break again for 5-4 and he served out the set to love. Roger faced three more break points in his first service game of the second set, before he held and then broke for 3-2. A crosscourt forehand winner gave him a second break for 5-2.
Roger will next play Russia's Mikhail Youzhny, who reached his first semi-final of the year when he overwhelmed Olivier Rochus of Belgium 6-3 6-1. Roger has never lost to Youzhny on the ATP Tour, taking home all of the six previous encounters. Their last match dates back exactly a year, where Roger defeated Youzhny 6-3, 7-5 in Dubai.

You are fantastic...
Your level is just going up and up!
So, good luck for the match against Youzhny - I'd watch if they were showing it over here...

Congratulations on reaching the semi finals--great to see that your serve has returned and that you are generally feeling more comfortable on the court.
Look forward to seeing you holding up the trophy for the 4th time in a couple of days.

2 to go . . . ! Wish I could see the probable final: you vs. Nadal. Here in the USA the Tennis Channel is airing their Las Vegas tournament (boring) and not where the preferred action is: Dubai! I check the web for news of
