New opponent in round one

Roger will have a new opponent in the first round of the French Open on Sunday after local favorite Arnaud Clément withdrew with a thigh strain.

 

Roland Garros organizers confirmed today that the 56th-ranked Clement would not be able to take his place on the draw. Roger will now meet a "lucky loser" from qualifying as he bids to win the second grand slam of the season for the first time.
