Roger one shy of Roland Garros title

Roger overcame a dismal start today to earn his first berth in a French Open final! He is now just one win shy of his fourth consecutive Grand Slam title...

 

Down one set and behind 3-0 in the second, Roger rallied and led 3-6, 6-4, 5-2 when David Nalbandian retired. The nature of Nalbandian's ailment wasn't immediately clear. The No. 3-seeded Argentine called for a trainer down 2-1 in the second set, again received treatment at 3-2 and quit after playing two more games.

 

By beating Nalbandian, Roger extended his Grand Slam winning streak to 27 matches. The final once again is the encounter many have hoped for: Roger's opponent will be defending champion Rafael Nadal.

 

Should Roger win the title, he would become only the third man to hold all four Grand Slam titles at the same time, joining Don Budge and Rod Laver. He would also become the sixth man to achieve a career Slam by winning all four majors.

You have the game to beat Nadal. You have what it takes. You can do this. Whilst you may feel the pressure to win your grand slam, Nadal also has the pressure of defending his title.

We all believe in you Roger. You can win this.

Hi Roger,
Please do your best in the final. I'm sure you'll win. You are the best tennis player I've ever seen and it's only you who deserves the title.

All the best to you in the final! Nadal will probably try and take even longer in between points, and his uncle will probably coach him again from the bench. It won't matter because you are simply the best.
