Semis in Toronto

14.08.2010 | Tennis

Roger showed an inspired performance against Tomas Berdych in Toronto to defeat the Czech 6-3, 5-7, 7-6(5).

"Today I just think I had a good start to the match, had chances in the second and then it was just kind of one of those matches I thought was going to slip away again like at the beginning of the season. But I was able to turn it around. It was definitely huge at this point," Roger said.

It was a tough battle on both sides today, culminating in a thrilling last set. Roger had a fair bit of trouble in the beginning of the third as he slipped 2-5 behind. But he fought back hard, finally getting the break he needed with Berdych serving for the match at 5-3. The drama grew even more intense as the match went into a tie-break. Roger had a great streak just in the perfect moment, racing to a 4-0 lead and finally wrapping up the match.

Roger will now play Novak Djokovic in Saturday's semi-final.

Well done Roger! You showed great fighting spirit when you clawed your way back from 2-5 in the decider. It was a great way to avenge your loss to Berdych in Wimbledon. We hope you go on and win the Rogers Cup. It will keep your spirits high and help you

Also, Roger, don't even worry about your body being tired ahead of the USOpen. Because, remember, after Cincy next week, you have one whole week to rest your body and just work on technique and cardio ahead of the Big Kahuna!

So Go Go Go Roger tomorrow
