Semis in Toronto
Roger showed an inspired performance against Tomas Berdych in Toronto to defeat the Czech 6-3, 5-7, 7-6(5).
"Today I just think I had a good start to the match, had chances in the second and then it was just kind of one of those matches I thought was going to slip away again like at the beginning of the season. But I was able to turn it around. It was definitely huge at this point," Roger said.
It was a tough battle on both sides today, culminating in a thrilling last set. Roger had a fair bit of trouble in the beginning of the third as he slipped 2-5 behind. But he fought back hard, finally getting the break he needed with Berdych serving for the match at 5-3. The drama grew even more intense as the match went into a tie-break. Roger had a great streak just in the perfect moment, racing to a 4-0 lead and finally wrapping up the match.
Roger will now play Novak Djokovic in Saturday's semi-final.
