Roger defeated by Nadal in thrilling final

Unfortunately Roger was not able to make a huge tream come true today. He lost to Rafael Nadal at today's final of the French Open: 6-1, 1-6, 4-6, 6-7.

"Rafael totally deserved to win this tournament," Roger said after the match. The Spaniard extended his Roland Garros perfect record to 14-0 and his winning streak on clay to 60 matches, leaving Roger opponent one match shy of becoming the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to hold all four grand slams simultaneously.

Roger was in a class of his own in the first set, breaking twice a nervous Nadal. The 20-year-old Spaniard, however, hit back in the second and pocketed the third having saved four break points. He then broke in the first game of the fourth set but Roger needed only one break point to level at 5-5, only for Rafael Nadal to win the tiebreak 7-4 and the match after three hours and two minutes.

You played well in the first set, then the match became tough, but it is okay there is alwalys a next time. But nobody will forget the sportsmanspirit shown by you in the second set and that too in the finals of ROLAND GARROS!!!!!!!!! CONGRATS on being th

You are still our idol, Roger... just keep on fighting and maybe next year... who knows.. it's the time for you to add a Roland Garros trophy in your cabinet.. more power... Good luck!!!

C'mon roger! You're still number 1, and for a lot of years more!!!!! Nadal is only a physic player, you have ellegance to play tennis, and he's like a donkey screaming in the court. I hate Nadal cause he's very conceited. You're better than him, please do

Roger, you had a great clay court season and you did what no man in over 30 years did -- reach four Grand Slam finals in a row. You are mature enough to know that defeats sometime help make a champion, and you will get that title at Roland Garros someday.

Roger, I think you have given your all in this tournament and it's great to have come this far even though you were defeated in the final. I'm sure your time in Roland Garros will come very soon, so dun ever give up.
