Roger makes 26th Grand Slam quarter-final in a row

Today Roger powered his way into a 26th consecutive Grand Slam quarter-final in a row by defeating Austria's Jürgen Melzer (ATP 13) 6-3, 7-6 (4), 6-3 in a night match at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

 

Roger played with his accustomed style on the court, registering 41 winners to 23 for the Austrian as he continued his run at Flushing Meadows without the loss of a set.

 

Nevertheless, our champion had some luck in the second set tie-break with two net-cords and had to recover from a break down in the third set, but was always in control of the match. "Obviously, the tiebreakers are always crucial," Roger said. "It was a tough match today, breezy. He's a tough opponent and a close friend of mine so it was never going to be easy. I'm really relieved and happy to get through."

 

Roger's next match is scheduled for Wednesday against Robin Soderling.

Like, the maccey bros have been praisin' HOW GREAT NADAL'S SERVICES HAVE BEEN, like we sincerely doubt that Nadal can master this wind and his fierce foes at the same doggone time for he's a true pretender at trying to be like our Roger...he's a true FREN

Not only Roger can up his gamesmanship in this fast hardcourt, but HE CAN MASTER THE WIND ELEMENT!!!

SIMPLY WINDY-ASTOUNDING!!!-->In very blustery conditions Federer's serve was outstanding. He made 64 percent of first serves - a great result given the wind - and won 50 of 58 points on his first serve.
