Roger reaches fourth straight Wimbledon final
Roger needed just over an hour to beat Jonas Björkman in straight sets at Wimbledon and become the first man in 41 years to reach five straight Grand Slam tennis finals.
Roger clearly took home the match 6-2, 6-0, 6-2 against Björkman, a 34-year-old Swede who was the oldest men's semifinalist at the London tournament since 1987. Their match at the lone grass-court major was delayed two hours by rain.
The last man to make five major finals in a row was Fred Stolle, who completed that streak in 1965.
Roger's record-extending 47th consecutive victory on the sport's fastest surface also moved him within one win of becoming the seventh man and first since Pete Sampras in 2000 to take four straight Wimbledon titles.
His opponent in two days will be either second-seeded Rafael Nadal of Spain or 18th-seeded Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus. If Nadal wins his semifinal, it would mark the first time in 14 years the same men have played in back-to-back Grand Slam finals. Nadal beat Roger at the French Open last month.
