Roger battles into semis

Roger recovered from a rough start today to beat Swiss compatriot Stanislas Wawrinka 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 at the Stockholm Open. His 50th victory this year also means he will now play his tenth semi-final of the season.

 

Wawrinka had a terrific start as Roger had to face breaks in the first and fifth games making some uncharacteristic errors. Trailing 0-2 in the second set, Roger came back in terrific fashion with some great winners to break Wawrinka twice and take the match into the third set. Our champ then raised the level of play even further to bring the match to a clear end after 107 minutes.

 

Next up is Croatia's Ivan Ljubicic (ATP 17) on Saturday.

Anyone watching the Mayer match on ATDHE? It is really good, so close. Niemenin and Mayer are fighting it out in the third set tooth and nail. Mayer just saved match point and is still in it, at 5-5. Niemenin just dove and rolled for one point where h

I agree with you this time 'theluckyfed' on all points but not sure fitness is an issue. Roger looks fitter than ever to me and he doesn't seem to get tired in these matches, but the inconsistency of the last match was a worry, especially the opening set

Actually, it sould be started before half an hour but there's a delay cuz of Nieminen -Mayer match hasn't ended yet..

Anybody know what time Roger plays today USA time (East coast)? I am watching the match between Niemenin and Mayer, it is very very close. I think Roger comes on just afterwards, but not sure.
