Fourth title in Basel

07.11.2010 | Tennis, Starseite 3

Roger captured a record fourth title in his hometown Basel today, defeating Novak Djokovic 6-4, 3-6, 6-1.

"It was a fantastic week, I played well from start to finish. The final was the most dangerous of the week, especially playing Novak. But I was able to pull away in the third set," Roger said.

Both players had the same number of break point chances in the first set, but it was only Roger who managed to convert one of his to take the lead. Djokovic was more opportunistic than Roger in the second and it was soon clear the he was going to tie in sets as Roger just commited too many errors. Very early in the third set, Roger still committed a large number of unforced errors, but this time Djokovic was unable to take advantage. Roger went all the way to treat himself and his home crowd to a record fourth title in Basel.

With his victory in Basel, Roger has now moved past Pete Sampras with 65 career singles titles. Ahead of him are now only John McEnroe (77), Ivan Lendl (94) and Jimmy Connors (109). He will now head to Paris as top seed - as Rafael Nadal will not be playing - for the last event of the ATP season.

Hello Roger !
I've just read that M. Llodra found the surface quite fast, the bounces, so low and there is getting used to.
Also, Gasquet defeated N. Mahut, won 73% of service points and hit 11 aces. So Roger, I just wish you to do well, to play your best...as always, to be strong and to take no one for granted. Wimbledon 2007 was such a long time ago!!
Best wishes, always and may God bless you.
lots of love.

Hello my love!!! How are you? Congratulations!!!
You played fantastic throughout the tournament so beautiful! Well deserved! I enjoyed every single one of your matches.
You are so sweet, what a great gesture that of sharing pizza with the ball boys, they’re the luckiest and the pizza looks delicious but not as much as you do ;)
Love the color composition of the stadium surface, and you made it even more beautiful with your wonderful game and presence.
I couldn’t write to you before because there was some trouble with the website, but thanks to the web team and thank God it is solved now, I’m happy again. I was so sad because I couldn’t communicate with you, it was like our phone was broken ;D. But you know that even if for some unfortunate reason I don’t write to you, I’m always supporting you, watching you play and loving you forever.
And the website revamp is excellent I love it, it looks terrific, thank you, it is much clearer and enjoyable, you are so considerate. The picture that your dad took the one at the post about the revamp is absolutely beautiful, you look incredible those bewitching and hypnotizing eyes of yours are the most gorgeous thing, one can tell how much your dad loves you with that picture because it was taken with so much love and care, congrats to your dad for that awesome photo. The next time I’ll tell you about an idea I have.
I got some amazing new CD’s you should get them too they are really superb and relaxing one is from Rod Stewart Fly Me to the Moon: The Great American Songbook, Vol. 5 it has beautiful arrangements and the other one is a box set 100 Best Menuhin, the genius of maestro Yehudi Menuhin is impressive and a true beauty, I love violin music and as you too enjoy precision I think you’ll like this.
Take care, rest, best wishes and farewell.
I love you so much Roger…
Isabel. :)
