Roger reaches semis

12.11.2010 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger has reached the semi-finals of the Masters in Paris-Bercy for the first in his career thanks to a 6-1, 7-6(4) victory against Jürgen Melzer today.

Roger showed another terrific display, racing to a 3-0 lead in the first set and wrapping it up in a quarter of an hour. Melzer improved on his serve in the second set, taking it into a tie-break after no breaks on both sides. Roger had to recover from trailing 3-4, but scored 4 points in a row and thus securing his spot in the round of the last four. Roger had 18 aces and 33 winners overall today.

The victory also means that Roger will hold the number two ranking until the end of 2010. He will now play Gaël Monfils in Saturday's semi-finals.

Voila ROGI!!

C'est formidable !!!

Excellent service game without break points and with 18 inflammable aces to improve your old record in match of 2 sets (17 aces). Also improve year to date win-loss to 60-12 to achieve seven consecutive years with 60+ wins.
You showed us a significant variety of great shots backhd, forehd, drop-shot, bckhd drop-shots, efficient returns in addition to aces.
Good luck vs French player Monfils. It will be tough match!!

God bless you

Your friend

It's so great Roger to be watching you play at weekends again over the past few months. You've been absolutely brilliant at Bercy. I'm so looking forward to seeing you 'in the flesh' at the O2. Everything seems to be back in place - your magician's wand and your magical spells.
Allez against Monfils who may be a bit of a handfull. No matter, it's going to be a fabulous match.

Bravo, Roger, again and again! Your lobs are out of this world, but they land in the court. Your strategy, the sheer marvel of your tactics, execution, the marvel of your ball/racquet handling skills, your hardwired sense of the court geometry leave no doubt: You were always the chosen one, destined for greatness, a "song of praise." You are a testament in this lacking world: your devotion to your great gift and to people elicits a loving response. Always let the belief live in you!
