Roger defeated in semis

13.11.2010 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger will still have to wait to play his first Paris Masters final. He had to accept a 6-7(7), 7-6(1), 6-7(4) defeat against France's Gaël Monfils in the semi-final in Paris today.

Our champ fought out an enthralling contest with Monfils. The match was as tight as can be, requiring three tie-breaks to settle matters. Both players showed great tennis and made no presents. It was until the end of the second set when, needing to level things to stay in the match, Roger raised his game to snatch the tie-break and take the match into a third set. Roger then raced to a 4-1 lead in the deciding set and looked to be on course for a spot in the final. But his French opponent fought hard, battling his way back into the contest and finally even win the match in the last tie-break. Roger unfortunately could not make use of his 5 break-points.

Dear Roger
I've just finished watching the replay of the final RS vs GM! Terrible! I can't understand they were to play final! GM was completely out! Not to be compared to his edition on Saturday! But everything is over now.
I hope you'll be as better as you can in London. It's not easy and you are not as young! But you are the best tennis player ever seen! Show it please once again i London! You deserve to win that prestigious trophie and title!!!
Good luck dearest Roger
Love, Mimi

So sad Roger. A great opportunity squandered. Monfils and Soderling instead of Nadal, Murray or the Joker. Five match points. What a perfect scenario. Oh well perhaps next year.

Better luck in London!

Hi Roger,
I was in Paris last week because I really wanna see you live, not only in TV :D
Your tennis was fantastic, agressive, variable, creative... 5 match points is really too much ;) but sometime it happens everyone... ;)
Better to lose in Paris than in London, not true? :D
Good luck in London!
I know you´ll win!

anyhow, ANOTHER bright spot from Paris is R-SOD won y'day, and he'll OVERTAKE wolfman (AM) for that WN4 spot...

also, our champ, according to TC, has won a GS, 1000, 500 & 250 ATPs this year, making him the 1st-n-only one who has gone thru a cycle, AKA ANOTHER FEAT IN AN OTHERWISE SUBPAR YEAR...

soOoOo, rest up your energy this week for London when TOP 8 WOLFPACK'll be vyin' for your moments of glory. WELL, DON'T LET 'EM, BUT ENJOY YEAR-END AS U PREPARE 4 201

Roger, you got to the semis in Bercy - progress! Heartbreaking loss, but hey, nobody wins them all. You were probably a tad tired after your 2 big wins in Stockholm and Basel, but Champ, you are still in amazing and fabulous form! Just keep believing. I think Soderling won in the final because for a change, he was not playing you, and he at last believed he could win. Mental confidence is everything at your high level of the game. Keep coming in to the net - very important.
