Roger visits 10 Downing Street

19.11.2010 | Tennis, Starseite 3

The eight players fighting for the crown of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals met British Prime Minister David Cameron on Thursday. "It's fantastic that the ATP World Tour Finals tournament is back in London for the second year running. It's great for London and great for the country."

Roger, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Robin Soderling, Andy Murray, Tomas Berdych, David Ferrer and Andy Roddick met Cameron at 10 Downing Street for a group photo and then went on to a private reception.

Remember, the players vote for the Sportsmanship award...
I think that *RAMCHARAN 's comments are right on, on that subject...
Remember also that that the game of tennis has been changing. the players have been moving on with new ones coming up...and with that ,the definition of
"Best Sportsmanship" has probably moved on as well
They may not hold Roger to the same level of "awsomeness" they did before
That's OK, Rog, we fans are keeping you up at the summit of the game for all time

Otherwise it's funny to look at the person who exhibitted gamesmanship tactics, who got fined for cheating getting the Best Sportsmanship award. This year he's getting all kinds of help in any kind of way... The ATP needs somebody to balance the dominance from our Maestro...

But no matter what Fed rules forever... All the best for tomorrow Champ... Can't wait to see you lift the trophy on 28th.

I think that two comments from our Champ could have acted against him during this year's awards contest: one about his injury claim soon after his loss to Berdych at Wimbledon (even if its genuine, people were not used to it) and the other Roger expressing himself super-talented after AO win (somehow many felt it pretty arrogant, though he just expressed it straight-forward). The voters just didn't look at the other contestant if he deserves the award and just probably voted against Roger...

Wishing you all the best to win this tournament. Although those guys are very tough and competitive, I do believe you can make it. You will win this one. Just listen to your heart, Roger.

Your game has been improved impressively. Keep working hard. Be aggressive in both offensive and defensive. Execute them with your superior game plans. And please keep your ultimate weapons alive. That is to stay calm & focus.

Nothing can stop you from your persistence to be the best of all.

That makes no sense. That is what sport is all about. Competition. Of course you can compare them. Unfortunately for the others in Roger's case, no one can compare. So in that way, you are right my friend BOTING.

In the history of all kind of sports there are and there will be coming
great sport-men. Comparing any players with each other are not of any use.
Roger Federer is Roger Federer and Nadal is Nadal
Sampras is Sampras and Borg is Borg
Pele is Pele and Marradonna is Marradonna
Schumacher is Schumacher and Alonso is Alonso
Zidane is Zidane and Messi is Messi

I think what's going on here is: the powers that be are so terrified that Roger will retire and leave no one left who can inspire people and keep them interested in the sport, that they are pushing Rafa, desperately trying to get him to fill Roger's mighty shoes. We know that can never happen. No one will ever replace him. We also know that as long as Rogers stays healthy and has the desire and drive he will continue to play and win. I am sorry it has come to this.
