Roger through to semis

Roger once again displayed great tennis today, defeating Robin Söderling 7-6(5), 6-3 and is the first player to book his spot in the semi-finals of the ATP World Tour Finals in London.

Söderling tried to dominate Roger with his serve today but the sheer class of our champ showed through. The first set was pretty close with Roger taking it 7-6(5) and it is at this point that he looked like he had put his foot down on the gas. The second set saw Roger get into his stride and play some of those lovely ground strokes that we love. He broke in the eighth game with a couple of classy points and completed his 15th victory in 16 encounters with Soderling in 88 minutes. Roger's variation of play and his serve were outstanding.

He will now play the player coming second in group A on Saturday.

Superb start against Novak; please don’t give him any chance to come back.

@dutch lady a while back, comment about being unfair to Roger's opponents. There is a danger of becoming an 'anti fan' of them and I must admit I am esp. with Nadal. It's justifiable to dislike Nadal, the danger is when negativity takes over incl. on this website so that one is filled with hatred and venom against Roger's opponents instead of loving and admiring Roger. Or getting upset when P Fleming says Nadal is now greatest of all time. Just stupid or nerdy obsession with numbers.

Loved the universal love for roger also. I watched him against Murray and still on his home turf you feel the love for Roger!

I agree that Nadal has been playing "dirty well"...but he beat Murray by a hair today
(by one point to be exact ) I thought Murray was up to the challenge and fought with grit all the way !!!
As to Roger, I don't buy the " fear factor" at this point in time...this is not Hamburg
Roger has been in top form throughout this tourney...I want to believe that the "positive factor" will prevail , please ! one match at a time !!!
