Roger through to semis

25.11.2010 | Starseite 1, Tennis

Roger once again displayed great tennis today, defeating Robin Söderling 7-6(5), 6-3 and is the first player to book his spot in the semi-finals of the ATP World Tour Finals in London.

Söderling tried to dominate Roger with his serve today but the sheer class of our champ showed through. The first set was pretty close with Roger taking it 7-6(5) and it is at this point that he looked like he had put his foot down on the gas. The second set saw Roger get into his stride and play some of those lovely ground strokes that we love. He broke in the eighth game with a couple of classy points and completed his 15th victory in 16 encounters with Soderling in 88 minutes. Roger's variation of play and his serve were outstanding.

He will now play the player coming second in group A on Saturday.

what i meant is 1st , i hope murray beats nadal. that probably won't happen. i hope roger beats DJ. then whoever is in the final, i hope roger doesn't have one of those surprise, surprise matches he's had lately. the press has only 1 thing to use against him, and they use it. i just don't want another loss to nadal for roger,s sake. so if he is going to have a bad match, i'll take DJ. the h2h is better. rog has been so great the last few months. i don't want the year to end in a loss to nadal.

i sort of agree with you *GW62*. roger is playing great and i love the way he is playing, too. but i think we all remember the unexpected hiccups. he sometimes had matchpoints. us open and paris masters come to mind. losing to unsteady monfils was just wrong. and losing to murray badly in shanghai after playing so well. so we are a little afraid to trust the great play will stay. if he is going to lose, i hope it's to dj and not nadal in the final. oh the bad press. but i hope he wins it all.

Fantastic work against Robin, Roger. What’s a marvelous last shot to win over him to gain the first set. Congratulation.

Keep moving, Roger. Keep winning streak to be the bet of the best again. Let your magnificent & flawless plays roar. Release your killing instinct to execute every shots & storks that you play. Setting up exceptional game plans with Paul to hunt Djoker down. Be careful of him. Just keep cool and focus, dear, to maintain your momentum & rhythm. Just win it, dear.

Good luck in your match against the Djoker tonight!

As for the Fed-Rafa final, I'm certain that it's gonna be one mouth-watering match fit for the last match of the last tourney of the season!

Go beat em, Roger!

I love the way that Roger is playing now and I do believe he is the greatest player of all time. I also loved the way that he was playing at the U.S. Open before he was upset. But he should have beat the Djoker then. I think he remembers this of course and will play accordingly.
I would like to see Roger play Rafa in the Final because I know he can beat Rafa in this setting. Roger seems more suited to the O2 than Rafa does. I only hope that I'm right. Go Roger!
