Roger through to semis

25.11.2010 | Starseite 1, Tennis

Roger once again displayed great tennis today, defeating Robin Söderling 7-6(5), 6-3 and is the first player to book his spot in the semi-finals of the ATP World Tour Finals in London.

Söderling tried to dominate Roger with his serve today but the sheer class of our champ showed through. The first set was pretty close with Roger taking it 7-6(5) and it is at this point that he looked like he had put his foot down on the gas. The second set saw Roger get into his stride and play some of those lovely ground strokes that we love. He broke in the eighth game with a couple of classy points and completed his 15th victory in 16 encounters with Soderling in 88 minutes. Roger's variation of play and his serve were outstanding.

He will now play the player coming second in group A on Saturday.

If Roger plays the way he played the last 3 matches, Djoker will have no chance. Roger said himself that after reaching match points in the US Open semifinal he started to think about the Final match and lost a bit of focus.

We all know that a 100% ready and focused RF is simply unbeatable. That's a fact.

I was at the match. The situation was confusing, which does not excuse N's disgraceful behaviour. He went over the umpire's head to an ATP official (who said it was the umpire's decision) then stopped playing and sat down. Went back on court giving the finger to the umpire but in a clever way, not actually confronting him so he got away with it, disrupted Berdych's concentration. Sky Sports crowd all drooling over thim afterwards. Sportsman of the year! What a joke.

Roger...don't think about Rafa or Murray, just focus on Djokovic Saturday and keep the great tennis to finish off Djokovic in style. After that you can focus on te Final no matter who is in it, you can beat it. You wanted to end the seson strong just the way you started it. Now is your chance, go for it... Best of lUCK !!!

I'm worried now that Roger's match is scheduled for the evening session. 1. He has less time until final. 2. Rafa is going to be on his mind during the match. Just like US Open semifinal.

Murray: For once, we will all love you if you take care of Rafa.

Rogi, this is not a questionable issue....
You must win this match in your inimitable style !
Go in there with confidence, be yourself and you will !!!
All the irritations that befell this tourney will be wiped away
Only you and your brilliant achievements will remain.

Vas-y, Roger, grab that trophy !!!
