Roger in third in Toronto
Roger advanced to the third round in Toronto with a 6-3, 5-7, 6-0 win over Dmitry Tursunov of Russia. He will now face Xavier Malisse of Belgium, who defeated Thomas Johansson of Sweden 7-6 (7), 6-3.
Roger rolled his right ankle in a hard fall against Tursunov but said he was uninjured. "It was definitely a tough match against a guy who has become confident," Roger said. "I was happy the way I closed out the third set because it was really getting tough in the second."
Roger has not met Xavier Malisse for four years. Before that period they played each other a total of seven times, Roger winning six of the matches. Malisse has reached two tournament finals this year (Adelaide and Delray Beach) and qualified for the semi-finals in Indianapolis.

Great match, it was tough but, you were amazing. Sorry that you had a fall, please be more careful, we were so scared for you. But thank God you turned out to be not badly hurt.
Good luck on the next match.
