Roger withdraws from first Davis Cup round

Roger will not play for the Swiss Team at the first round of the Davis Cup which will be held in Geneva on February 10.-12, 2006. He also cancelled his participation at the ATP tournament in Rotterdam.
The first weeks of this year, with the highlight at the Australian Open, have cost Roger a lot of energy. "There are still many challenges ahead this season and I feel the need to plan everything carefully and listen to my body. I will use the time to prepare for the upcoming Masters-Series tournaments as well as the French Open", Roger explained.
Swiss Tennis and the Swiss Davis Cup Team regret Roger's absence but fully understand the decision of their team-leader.
