Roger loses in three sets

27.01.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger was defeated 6-7(3), 5-7 and 4-6 by Novak Djokovic in the semi-final of the Australian Open today. Roger struggled to stem Djokovic's aggressive assault, and also had problems with his serve.

Roger was unable to dominate the match and had troubles holding up right from the start. Djokovic won a tense 57-minute first set in a tie-break. Hopes of a comeback for Roger evaporated in the second set when, having fought back from a break down to lead 5-2, he was swept aside by a run of five consecutive games for the Serbian.

Roger was broken once again to 1-2 in the third set, before fighting his way back to 4-4 with a threaded forehand down the line. But unfortunately it was only a brief moment of hope as he went on to save three match-points in the final game and eventually had to admit the defeat.

The loss leaves Roger without one of the four Grand Slam titles for the first time since 2003.

So there is a new service-clone of Pete Sampras on the ATP tour
rising star Raonic(Can)
Exellent 1st service and perfect 2nd one.

the backhand was a failure this match .Roger was forcing it too much and yeah novak probably played the tennis of his life and the slow nature of the atp courts are just getting into roger and that was pretty much evident as he was not very convincing even in his earlier matches.but the legend and god roger is ,he will definitely bounce back in dubai and i hope will send a strong message to the other players

Dear Roger,
I love your tennis and I love you very much.
Therefore, please do play tennis, enjoy your match and show you as long as possible.
Have good year and good days.

Fraline 50**Thank you for helping me :-) and for your kind wish. Your point about energy from Roger is very true.
MauBackhand**so 4425 is that - thank you - it'll be tight but Roger will be back BUT he has to manage his mid-match psychology - once he succeeds there, he'll be fine. I'm sure Annacone knows that too.
Let's see how the next Tourney turns out. You are all very wise - Roger is wonderful to watch - No.1 is the Bonus. He will go for it.

My answer to 4425 is 4800:
That's the amount of points Federer will gain on Nadal to retake the no. 1 spot by the not unlikely eventuality that both players reach SF in all remaining GS this year. For Federer, that will take a rather standard effort given his previous series of consecutive SF appearances. For Nadal, anything worse than finalist this year will make the above prediction come closer. Better get those overworked knees in shape, mr Nadal...

Don't worry Roger! You can get back to number one, no problem at all. I have full faith in you. Your dominance will now show through with the rest of the year! Lots of love!

** Yukimi **
The tennis, without Roger is "ennuyeux". We miss him already.
He is the Sun and we : "nous prenons un bain de soleil".
4425 is the difference between Roger and Nadal.
But to look at the current n°1 tires me whereas to admire Roger give me a lot of energy.
It is not a question of points or ranking.

If you are sleeping now, have sweet dreams.

**Fraline 50** Thanks for welcome - Merci Beaucoup - Nous avon besoin de Roger , c'est vrai, parce que, sans lui, Tennis est, comment dire, ennuyant? Is that how I should translate 'boring'? Ennuyant?

Roger est le soleil et nous somme les soleil-baignants.

I said Roger is the Sun and we are the sunbathers - my French may be wrong.
Dear Boting , what is 'FOURTHOUSAND FOURHUNDRED AND TWENYFIVE' ?

Goodnight, everyone. 2.03am HK Time

Yukimi

Ha! Ha!
