Roger loses in three sets
Roger was defeated 6-7(3), 5-7 and 4-6 by Novak Djokovic in the semi-final of the Australian Open today. Roger struggled to stem Djokovic's aggressive assault, and also had problems with his serve.
Roger was unable to dominate the match and had troubles holding up right from the start. Djokovic won a tense 57-minute first set in a tie-break. Hopes of a comeback for Roger evaporated in the second set when, having fought back from a break down to lead 5-2, he was swept aside by a run of five consecutive games for the Serbian.
Roger was broken once again to 1-2 in the third set, before fighting his way back to 4-4 with a threaded forehand down the line. But unfortunately it was only a brief moment of hope as he went on to save three match-points in the final game and eventually had to admit the defeat.
The loss leaves Roger without one of the four Grand Slam titles for the first time since 2003.

Perhaps he is seeking or already discovered more magic in his tennis.
Who knows? Even though in reaching whatever dreams that he may have, I am here for the ride--he may lose some matches but does it really matter?I think not.
In several of his recent interviews he stated that he plans long term [or similar words] when discussing tactics etc with his team.
Will he play more magic than he already has done? Some indications that this may be so were seen during the AO.
Margaret
Thank you for comments--much appreciated.
Ticky am so pleased that you were able to watch Roger live.
Several comments from readers in this weekend's Australian newspaper including this one.
I quote "No Rafa? No Roger? No reason to watch the men's final of the AO!"
Roger has nothing left to prove,he's playing for himself and for the love of the game--he wants to see just where he can go. Recently [to me anyway]we've watched a mature and confident man/game
As to the tennis, I tried to be fair...Nole played a strong game, the big question is how long will he able to sustain his power-play ? my guess is, not long enough to keep Roger from shooing him aside and continue his dominance.
Rest well and hurry back Rog !
Did you notice the low level of enthusiasm and energy in the crowd (except the two players' boxes)? That SF between Roger and Novak was closer, more dramatic, with much higher quality.
I totally agree with this comment. That was one of the most boring Finals I have watched in years!!!! There are a lot more finals out there yet to be had Roger.
LOOK, FED PLAYED GREAT THAT DAY, I THINK DJOKO PLAYED AS HARD AS HE CAN TOO AND WAS LUCKY. UNDER PRESURE DJOKO PLAYED THE BIG POINTS VERY WELL, AND FED MENTAL STRENGH WAS NOT THAT STRONG. THAT'S WHY I KEPT ON ASKING FED TO GET HIS MENTAL STRENGH WHERE IT WAS. 3RD SET FED FIGHT BACK TO BREAK DJOKO AND CANNOT HOLD, ONE OF THE REASON IS HIS FIRST SERVE CANNOT GET IN. THAT HAPPEN TO EVERYONE, YOU CANNOT KEEP YOUR CONCENTRATION FOREVER, BUT I KNOW FOR SURE HE KNOWS HE IS BETTER THAN THEM.
yes 100 percent right, but there is one little problem Federer has time on his side !
