Roger loses in three sets

Roger was defeated 6-7(3), 5-7 and 4-6 by Novak Djokovic in the semi-final of the Australian Open today. Roger struggled to stem Djokovic's aggressive assault, and also had problems with his serve.

Roger was unable to dominate the match and had troubles holding up right from the start. Djokovic won a tense 57-minute first set in a tie-break. Hopes of a comeback for Roger evaporated in the second set when, having fought back from a break down to lead 5-2, he was swept aside by a run of five consecutive games for the Serbian.

Roger was broken once again to 1-2 in the third set, before fighting his way back to 4-4 with a threaded forehand down the line. But unfortunately it was only a brief moment of hope as he went on to save three match-points in the final game and eventually had to admit the defeat.

The loss leaves Roger without one of the four Grand Slam titles for the first time since 2003.

I'm so sorry for being late to comment!! I hope not too much

Hard luck for the loss to Djoko.. Actually, he was playing one of the best tennis of his career..But you also played good but wasn't enough to beat him in such day
Drop in backhand efficiency and 1st service as well made that difference.
Most important thing that you're healthy and you can go on for next challenges
For me it's all about Wimbly..Just remember that and keep up the good work

So glad to see you all (and the rest I haven't had time to read) are Up and About - good! Because Roger needs you ALL now much MORE than ever before - my heart was broken as he lost his way in the first tiebreak and at 5-2, 2nd Set but strangely I felt peaceful too because I felt(and still know) that this "2011 Roger" is going to go through 2011 like a Freight Train!!

I've been rewatching the2007 Wimbledon final. Some of Roger's backhand replies to Rafa flew into the sky just as against Djoko at the Aus Open this year. Rafa has beaten Roger so often due to having two very powerful forehands really. Roger let Djoko get away with driving him out of court on the backhand, over and over, and Roger seemed to have no answer. Why? Two handed backhand, with Roger's genius, he'd have pulverised Djoko. Come on Roger....!
