Roger loses in three sets

27.01.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger was defeated 6-7(3), 5-7 and 4-6 by Novak Djokovic in the semi-final of the Australian Open today. Roger struggled to stem Djokovic's aggressive assault, and also had problems with his serve.

Roger was unable to dominate the match and had troubles holding up right from the start. Djokovic won a tense 57-minute first set in a tie-break. Hopes of a comeback for Roger evaporated in the second set when, having fought back from a break down to lead 5-2, he was swept aside by a run of five consecutive games for the Serbian.

Roger was broken once again to 1-2 in the third set, before fighting his way back to 4-4 with a threaded forehand down the line. But unfortunately it was only a brief moment of hope as he went on to save three match-points in the final game and eventually had to admit the defeat.

The loss leaves Roger without one of the four Grand Slam titles for the first time since 2003.

Dear Roger and fans
Via this Granslam I want to talk some thing with every body.
- First is about Nadal. He don't want to win David Ferrer, Nadal don't play with best effort (He was young so he has alot of changce in future), because public opinion, he think, he win so much...
- Second is about Roger. Compare skill to Djokovic, Roger has more skill but his phisique and age, Djokovic is more younger, faster and dogged.
-Djokovic and Murray are in peak in their career, both of them are young...

...and strong. I think the final is the interested match..
In 2011, there are 3 Granslam next, Roger still has chance to win it. Roger and fans don't said in this Australian open.
I fell pleased with the way that Roger played. Although he was 30, he still bring us alot of fun. This man still influence spreads over the world in future.
Best regard.

Gutted, Roger. It won't be the same without you in the final. But you played well and you have a good team to work things out with. Time to enjoy a break.

Roger, the only chanse to win another grand slam title is to play agressive and close the point in maxim 4-5 shot`s or less. God bless you !

** BOTING ** is absolutely right.

It's about POWER. How do you expect Roger with his physique (thinnest arms) and age to out-muscle the likes of Djokovic? Again, he and Annacone chose the wrong tactic. Long baseline rallies is a recipe for disaster against top big-hitters:

Del Potro (USO 2009), Soderling (RG 2010), Berdych (WB 2010), Djokovic (USO 2010), Djokovic (AO 2011)

He did not use his brilliant variety of shots, did not mix it up, and paid for it dearly.

FOR SOME COMMENTATORS HERE ON THIS SIDE
NOTHING TO DO WITH BIGGER RACKET,NOR PLAYING SERVE VOLLEY
IT IS TO DO WITH LACK OF CONCENTRATION TOO MUCH UNFORCED ERRORS
AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST SHORT OF PHYSICAL POWER
NOT ENOUGH POWER LIFTING

Instead of commentators, experts etc commenting on UES [which you take no notice of anyway] H2H and other odd things why don't they sit down and calculate how many hours of tennis that you have played during the past decade , then compare with other players--the gap would be huge!
Roger you are healthy, happy and wise--nothing to prove to anyone and no-one should expect you to win all of the time.
Not attending Sunday's Final--
2011 is going to be Rogers year.
Kindest regards
Margaret
