Roger loses in three sets

Roger was defeated 6-7(3), 5-7 and 4-6 by Novak Djokovic in the semi-final of the Australian Open today. Roger struggled to stem Djokovic's aggressive assault, and also had problems with his serve.

Roger was unable to dominate the match and had troubles holding up right from the start. Djokovic won a tense 57-minute first set in a tie-break. Hopes of a comeback for Roger evaporated in the second set when, having fought back from a break down to lead 5-2, he was swept aside by a run of five consecutive games for the Serbian.

Roger was broken once again to 1-2 in the third set, before fighting his way back to 4-4 with a threaded forehand down the line. But unfortunately it was only a brief moment of hope as he went on to save three match-points in the final game and eventually had to admit the defeat.

The loss leaves Roger without one of the four Grand Slam titles for the first time since 2003.

I hope Roger puts on a better show in Indian Wells and Miami. It was such a shame to lose to Baghdatis and Berdych while having match points.

As for Monte Carlo, yes it has 1000 sweet points and I don't understand why he does not play there. So strange.

I ask all the die hard fan to encourag Roger to particepate in Monte carlo he is need of extra points in his march to regain no 1 ...please Rog go there in relaxed mood and consider it at least as part of preparation for the clay season i know that u know what is best for yourself but i just cant stop myself dreaming of u keep on winning and get back your no 1

Let's Just support Roger win or lose. Roger does so much more for the sport than any other player. He is President of the Players Council which is a big responsibility. He did not play his best in semis in Aus Open, but when you have other responsibilities, something has to give. He just needs a little more time to focus on his game and be more comfortable in the Annacone system. He is on holiday now, so I know he will come back stronger and fitter than ever. Can't wait to see him play again.

Hey Rog,
S sorry for your loss in AO semifinal.
And it is a pity you could not bring your A-game that day.
But you will do again in the future, I am sure of that.
