Roger reaches Dubai final

25.02.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger has reached the final of the tournament in Dubai thanks to a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Richard Gasquet today.

Roger had no problems in the first set, playing aggressively and not facing too much resistance from the Frenchman. But he fell back 3-5 in the second as Gasquet made more of a fight of the encounter. And then Roger once again did what we love him for - raise the pressure and take the lead - as he secured the last four games and thus the match.

Roger will now face Novak Djokovic in Saturday's final, in a replay of their Australian Open semi-final in January. The defeat is Roger's only one so far this season, Djokovic is yet to loose a match.

When you produced your best shot, djokovic has no answer at all. But when you start to produce alot of unusual unforce errors, and not ready to attack yet, please
play in defense and try to draw unforce errors from him. When you think you ready to attack again, then do it!!!!!!!!!. Please play smart my GOAT. Indian well and miami will be yours.

What happened Champ? First of all, the match went his way partly due to your serve/errors and partly due to Novak's superb 1st serve %. Still you repeated the same thing. Getting the lead in the 2nd set and throwing it away. Not sure what's happening there. Haven't seen that before. It's not that he played unbelievable but somehow getting the mental edge over you. It should be the reverse considering his 3 straight losses last year. But still you are the best ever! Rest well and practice hard.

I totally agree with the Novak box as Roger or anyone would lose concentration. Better luck next time. I thought you were going to take the first set.

You will beat him next time. Remember you are still no 1 to all your fans

Am as stunned as many others (after reading your comments), but haven't lost faith in Roger. I already sensed he was disturbed (Djoko's fans made him lose concentration?). It's okay, Rog, you have nothing to prove to anyone, and the year has just started. And you got to the finals!!!

let us look at the positive 300 extra points that he won, enshalla things will get better next tournaments, he seemed today to be sick or something else in his mind, it wasn't the same roger who played on friday nor thursday, but afterall, he is our champion and we'll love him and support him no matter what, tennis is nothing without roger, tennis is roger...........good luck dear
