Roger suffers defeat number two

Roger was defeated in straight sets by Novak Djokovic in the final of the Dubai Tennis Championships today.

"I had a tough start and a tough end but Novak played a solid tournament all the way through and deserved to win,” Roger said. “It was a tough end for me but still a great tournament."

Roger faced a strong Djokovic right from the start and was clearly dominated in the first set. It looked better in set number two as he broke the Serb to take a 3-1 lead. But unfortunately he had to constantly battle with problems with his timing and rhythm, losing 20 of the following 25 points and eventually the match.

I didnt watch the match, so didnt know what happened. But I am sure you know and you will sort it out.

Way to go IW and Miami. Good luck, champ. You will get it, and we know its only a matter of time!

Yesterday play was just like new comer or very old aged player type or very childish.
Forehand was worst and back hand was worstest, service (are you learner)
2nd set 6th game over head was head opener direct in to the net. Think you must study your opponent play, because they studied yours and done their home work very hard. First Nadal now Novak. I think Nadal is much equal play but Novak…….. look always struggling. They (he) read your serve well, attacked your backhand well, th

La indulgencia es valiosa, más no la obsecuencia. Roger hizo un excelente torneo pero el partido definitivo rotundamente no, fue de un nivel bajísimo, ni top 20. Algo le pasó... y no sabremos nuca qué fue. Hay 2 cosas ciertas: 1.Seguimos amando al Gran Maestro RF / 2. Debe tomar las riendas de su carrera de otra forma; son varias las finales perdidas y para un maestro como él debiera ser más que suficiente para reorientar su camino que dejó de ser excelente en lo que va del 2011. You are still my hero but you are going to have to find your form again for Indian Wells.I dont know what happened to your shots one minute they were there and then they were gone.and your timing.Never mind I know you can do better good luck love Helen xxx

First it was the Nadal syndrome and not it is the Djokovic syndrome. It is all mental, but Djokovic has clearly improved his game and you clearly had problems with his game. It was a good tournament overall, but he has finally not only caught you, but gone passed you. He was in the zone and playing confidently. It was difficult to deal with Nadal, now you have to deal with Djokovic. I hope this isn't the future everytime you see him across the net.

Never mind--as Margaret [hughsie] commented that, as sportspersons, we always hope that we do not have one of those days when nothing goes our way--you had one last evening--lets hope that it is the last one for a long time--we all have them some time or other--life & sport--sent to challenge us!
Perhaps you were not feeling the best--we will never know--you were playing in yet another final following a week of excellent tennis--where do you find some of your superb shots? Tell me!

it was a bad day for you yesterday, but you still had a very good tournament in Dubai that should give you plenty of confidence for the American Masters 1000 Tournaments.
Please remember that you are the greatest player and that your true fans, like me and millions others, will always be by your side!
