Roger suffers defeat number two

26.02.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger was defeated in straight sets by Novak Djokovic in the final of the Dubai Tennis Championships today.

"I had a tough start and a tough end but Novak played a solid tournament all the way through and deserved to win,” Roger said. “It was a tough end for me but still a great tournament."

Roger faced a strong Djokovic right from the start and was clearly dominated in the first set. It looked better in set number two as he broke the Serb to take a 3-1 lead. But unfortunately he had to constantly battle with problems with his timing and rhythm, losing 20 of the following 25 points and eventually the match.

cont

To watch and follow his career so closely has been one of the joys of my life-he has NEVER disappointed me or my family.I will always support & follow him --his post tennis life will, in my opinion be exciting as well.

To those who go on and on re UES, may I suggest that you read some of Roger's interviews where on more than one occasion his explains them.

His post final interview interesting reading www.goroger.net

**rogerno1*88 agree but firstly they need a racquet!

Hi Roger,
You are the best tennis player in the world. You are also very smart, so that I'm sure you realize that to continue winning you need to change some things. All players sometimes work on changes to improve. So look at the videos of your game with Djorki very carefully, and realize that maybe that back hand needs to be strenghtened. Good Luck - Do not give up!

***Dabidricario***

Agree with yiou wholeheartedly.

I aslo have watched Roger since I first saw him play as a YOUNG teenager in Switzerland --we travelled there to watch Lleyton Hewitt--our friend knew the late Peter Carter from South Australia and informed us that we should also watch this amazing tennis talent Roger Federer!
As we were post graduate students in the UK at the time not much money BUT we worked extra night shifts to enable us to & see this young man ,RF play tennis!!

Hey folks, let's ease up on Rog a bit shall we? Why don't you guys go out there and play ND and then you can come on here and crap all over Roger.

never mind roggie you can make it , plz enjoy ur game and remember always that you're the king of the game with such massive number of wins , don't put urself under pressure by unforced backhand errors and plz don't forget that millions of people are standing by you , make us happy roggie

After watching Roger Federer play for many years, I have come to learn that no one can beat him but himself. Just like in the U.S. Open, I saw him make a series of unforced errors against Djoker. If he can learn to control or minimize unforced errors against tough opponents, I truly believe Roger can reign as champion again. I bet nole snaps his win streak against a lower level player in Indian Wells, he is just lucky that's all. I was watching how he played Berdych, he wasn't playing good.

Roger it was not your day. But still we hope you are the greatest player of tennis. The Interview: Charlie Rose with roger federer was the best i have ever seen. No matter about critics. Perhaps, you have to rule the world once again.

fed can win GS but he will never be as dominant as he was. he is not the same person, he loses his mental edge. I remember the old fed , when he needs a serve or something he get it, now he is different, he is almost 30. That's normal, but he he needs to plays as he did at the atp tour be agressive and try to get inside the court or very close to the baseline. i remember nadal tried to push fed back, then fed hit a short crosscourt backhand. be agressive man no matter what.
