Nike Clash of the Champions
09.03.2011 | Foundation, Starseite 3
Roger was defeated 5-7 by Rafael Nadal in the "Nike Clash of the Champions" on Tuesday.
"We’ve done a lot of good causes. This is another one," Roger said. “This is a special night for all of us.”
The exhibition match was hosted at University of Oregon and also featured Russian Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka. American tennis legend John McEnroe made a surprise visit to the event and looked really impressed by it.
Funds collected from the Nike Clash of the Champions will go to the Roger Federer Foundation and the foundations of Nadal, Sharapova and Williams, along with Azarenka’s charity, the Children’s Clinic for Cancer.

You put on a fantastic show with Rafael with tweener and overheads. Thanks again for coming to this small part of the world.
I agree with you. I was shocked when I woke up to the News on rf.com ...
"Roger was defeated..." ??? I thought this was an "exhibition"...a display for the
benefit of the sponsor and the players' charities ???
What was there to win or lose at an exho ??? and by the way...Roger and Maria
won the Mixed Doubles, 6-3, if we must have numbers, why not the good ones !!!
Congratulations Roger,Glad you had fun !!!
During the 2011 AO, Santiago Giraldo and Alejandro Falla (Colombian players and RF's repeated opponents - tennistically speaking :-) asked him and A Ivanovic, J M Del Potro and D Ferrer for aid. They all then sent signed items to come up for auction during the Colsanitas Cup Tournament in Bogotá.
This is just one among many other unpublished news linking Roger Federer to WELFARE.
Grac
what did you miss? the last news, the math lesson or the emotional and social aspects of life?
after AO there were 4 wins and one loss = positive: the news
or 5 matches and 1 loss = positive: maths
1 tournament (or 3 since January) and millions of happy fans looking forward to the rest of 2011 = positive: emotion
1 Roger and millions of people in need (Australia, Africa, South America...) getting relief = positive: social
Very disappointed how the things are going since AO.....but still hope this changes for good sooner than later!
Now let's focus on the up-coming Indian Wells tournament.
Would love you to win either this or Miami or both, but give it your best fight and let the chips fall where they may.
Love you always Roger!
