Showmatch in Manhattan
25.08.2006 | Off Court
Roger and Rafael Nadal played a friendly match on the streets of Manhattan Thursday to mark the upcoming US Open. They exchanged volleys on a court set up at 54th and Lexington in New York.
Hundreds of fans were on hand for the match designed to get people ready for next week's US Open. Both players say they love playing in the city. "It's a nice place, it's a nice sensation," said Nadal. "I'm very happy, and I want to say thank you very much to Nike for inviting me and Roger to play here. I'm very happy about that."
There was also a youth tennis clinic, and some lucky fans got to try and return a serve from the two tennis stars.
