Roger in quarters

17.03.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger won his match against America's Ryan Harrison 7-6(4), 6-3 to reach the quarters in Indian Wells.

"He was making it very hard for me," Roger said after the match. "It was a very tricky match. I think he's going to have a great future."

Against the expectations, Roger had to battle against the young American in the first set as Harrison showed a tough fight until the last moments of the tie-break. The second set saw much more focused serving from Roger who won 77% of his service points and reached a quota of 65% first serves. After 85 minutes, Roger used his fourth matchball to win.

In the quarters Roger will face his Swiss friend Stanislas Wawrinka.

Hi Roger,

In the first set, I thought you just played a little bit with Ryan to get to know him better. At least that was what I saw from stadium-1 loge ... Anyway, it was an interesting match and loved it!

I know, it is tough for me too , moreover, after I saw Stan winning his match against Berdych but I wish you good luck next match against your friend and doubles partner.

See you!

***JODOUG**

Totally agree with your assessment, my friend. We have to live with Roger's ups and downs these days, and cherish his precious presence in these last years of his illustrious career. Djokovic is on fire. Don't know if Gasquet could hurt him or not (I certainly hope so!). Keeping fingers crossed for something good to happen.

**FEDELEGANT** you are so right about roger's inconsistencies these days. he will have a tourney like the WTF or BASEL and you think he is on his way. then he plays great in DUBAI and runs into DJ again it is a bit painful. but i think at 29 he will be up and down and we have to live with that. it even happens set to set at times. i want him to win here, and he can. but i don't think he will. if he gets by STAN, DJ looks like a man on a mission to get to #2. keeping my fingers crossed for ROG.

That would be potentially 5 matches for Roger 3 days in a row from Friday through Sunday.
