Roger in quarters

Roger won his match against America's Ryan Harrison 7-6(4), 6-3 to reach the quarters in Indian Wells.

 

"He was making it very hard for me," Roger said after the match. "It was a very tricky match. I think he's going to have a great future."


Against the expectations, Roger had to battle against the young American in the first set as Harrison showed a tough fight until the last moments of the tie-break. The second set saw much more focused serving from Roger who won 77% of his service points and reached a quota of 65% first serves. After 85 minutes, Roger used his fourth matchball to win.

In the quarters Roger will face his Swiss friend Stanislas Wawrinka.

Dear Roger, yes Harrison fought and has talent. However, it remeains to be seen if his strategy will propel him or be somewhat of a handicap, because I saw those handicaps, and some are not just due to his lack of experience.
I loved the way you played against him: you assessed the situation and adjusted your game. No doubts, Roger. But nice words are good. Great good luck in the next match against Wawrinka. You know how to play him: Lundgren got him in better shape, too. Use your strengths.

Tough match Roger, although you eventually find your best tennis to take the match to your side. Keep it up for long, and all the best for today's match against Stan. Hope you can go through semis! ;)

At 3pm today he will be 'golden boy' in the qtr single AGAINST his friend Stan
At 6pm he will change shirt and become" blue boy" WITH the Roger/Stan team
