Another loss against Djokovic

20.03.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger suffered another defeat against Novak Djokovic in Indian Wells today, losing the semi-final 3-6, 6-3 and 2-6. Roger will now drop to number 3 in the world ranking as Djokovic takes his place.

The Serbian simply played too well in the opening set today as Roger trailed behind 3-6. But Roger then showed all his experience to reel in the younger opponent to level the match by taking the second 6-3. As the match went on both players displayed sublime skills but it was Djokovic who held his nerve in the end, winning the big points to secure to progress to the final after 126 minutes.

It is the ninth defeat for Roger against the Serbian in their 22nd match - our champ has lost all their three encounters so far this year.

Later on, Roger and Stanislas Wawrinka were also not able to celebrate a victory as they lost the final against Alexandr Dolgopolov and Xavier Malisse 4-6, 7-6(5) and 7-10.

cliff drysdale on tennis.com.: roger is the best player he has ever seen. the most complete player he has ever seen. and he played against laver. he said it's hard to compare eras so the greatest he won't say because he didn't see all players. he believes roger would dominate any era as he has this one. and it is inevitable the new players copy him and become harder to beat. but with his genious and economy of movement he can play 5 yrs+. his game is easy on his body. makes age less important.

Roger, everyone has ups and downs. You can't be perfect all the time. Plus, you won every single grand slam and you proved many times that you are the greatest tennis player in the world. I'm sure you will win many more titles in the future!

@bladerunner66: Please, keep your ignorant comments to yourself, Sir. If you want to insult Serbs and spread nationalism, then go someplace else. Thank you.

@Marko: Ne obracaj paznju. Nismo duzni da se bilo kome pravdamo, ponajmanje Amerikancima. Pozz ;

good vs bad: GOOD is such that Roger can still win FO/WIMBLY/USO; BAD is such that DJOKER, a major chess-thumpin' thug that he is, is gettin' the best of him by beatin' Roger 3x out.

'twuz a very bad 2-whammy kinda day, Roger should NOT wear this ugly yellow color ever again!

c'mon, champ, let's retool your game, by regaining your WN2 & EACH GS REMAINING, 1 @ A TIME 2 RECLAIM YOUR RIGHTFUL WN1 @ THE THRONE...

Grrrrr, ALLEZ, LION KING OF TENNIS~!

I think Roger could care less on going back to number one.
4 more slams to go, like he wants.
And once he wants something there is no one out there to keep him from getting it.
He is playing great tennis, thats natural for him.
I dont see that natural hability on Novak. I see a very young and willed guy playing a very hard game and maybe going to the best stint of his career, just like Rafa did last year on clay.

I am not saying Novak is not a great player, indeed he is.
But far from Rog

I am sure there are lot's of really jolly serbs that love the greatest tennis player in history. Of this I have no doubt. To you I aplolgiseif you think I was out of l. I just think novak is a thug, have you ever seen Roger act like that? pounding his chest and cranking open his gaping maw,o yes and recieving coaching from his box of cretins?
and don't forget what the serbs did during thier war, snip women and kids on the way to the market and school. so let's get it straight mark087
