Another loss against Djokovic

20.03.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger suffered another defeat against Novak Djokovic in Indian Wells today, losing the semi-final 3-6, 6-3 and 2-6. Roger will now drop to number 3 in the world ranking as Djokovic takes his place.

The Serbian simply played too well in the opening set today as Roger trailed behind 3-6. But Roger then showed all his experience to reel in the younger opponent to level the match by taking the second 6-3. As the match went on both players displayed sublime skills but it was Djokovic who held his nerve in the end, winning the big points to secure to progress to the final after 126 minutes.

It is the ninth defeat for Roger against the Serbian in their 22nd match - our champ has lost all their three encounters so far this year.

Later on, Roger and Stanislas Wawrinka were also not able to celebrate a victory as they lost the final against Alexandr Dolgopolov and Xavier Malisse 4-6, 7-6(5) and 7-10.

I'ts really heartbreaking to loose, that's was I felt everytime you lose the game especially to Novak, but I know you're more hurt than we do but really the most important thing is you play your best and show the world that you're the greatest man on and off the court. You are really an inspiration and a great model to me and the whole world.I always include you in my prayers as well as your family too. I Love you so much and I wish to see you one day. Kisses to your family.

Love your attitude even after the loss. No wonder you don't have any burnout after playing for so long (more than 10 years professionally), consistent in such high level and handle all the pressure for under the spotlight all the time. You are inspirational as a person, other than your artful movement in the tennis court. This is probably called Champion heart.

Hard luck Roger you have to give credit to Djokovic for playing well. I'm confident you'll get him back the next time! :D

ROGER, WHAT A PRIVILEGE TO SEE YOU PLAY LIVE IN THAT SEMI'S AGAINST NOVAK! BEEN WAITING 7 YEARS TO SEE YOU! NOVAK, RAFA - THEY CANNOT LAST LONG AT THE TOP. YOU - YOUR GAME IS FLUID AND GENIUS. YOU DO NOT PUNISH YOUR BODY EACH POINT AS THEY DO. YOUR SHOT-MAKING ABILITIES FAR SURPASS ANYONE ON TOUR. MAYBE YOU CAN MAKE MORE UNFORCED ERRORS SOMETIMES, BUT YOU TAKE YOUR OPPORTUNITIES WHEN YOU GET THEM IN A WAY THAT NOBODY ELSE CAN. STAY HEALTHY ROGER! <<<LONG LIVE KING FEDERER!!!>>> J & S, CA

Roger: I'm always be with you. I don't care if you are number 1, 2 or 1824. Because seeing you playing is one of the most spectacular things I ever seen. And nobody can change that, even his name is Djokovic or Nadal. Thanks for being the best.
