Key Biscayne: the draw
23.03.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1
Roger left California and traveled to the East Coast of the USA in order to play the Sony Ericsson Open on Key Biscayne in Florida.
Like the other top seeds, Roger is exempt from the first round. He will either face Fabio Fognini (ATP 53) or Radek Stepanek (ATP 68) in round two. He could later take on Argentinia's Juan Monaco (ATP 35), before a meeting with either Marcos Baghdatis (ATP 24) or Mikhail Youzhny (ATP 14) is possible. Then, Andy Roddick, the defending champion, could be up in the quarter finals.
Roger, winner in 2005 and 2006, is in the same half of the draw as top-seeded Rafael Nadal. The two champions could meet in the semifinals.

Let's all hope that Federer can get it together in Miami. A win there would be a great boost going in to the clay court season. Remember folks it was two years ago when things looked worse after that disastrous Australian Open. Later that year he won RG and Wimbledon.
It was just 4 months ago that we were all celebrating his triumph in London. Surely the great one can get it back on track.
Rankings now depend on how long Rafa and Novak can stay consistent and healthy.
Sure, you can always try new things, mix it up more - better than being too predictable for those opponents like Novak who have now played you often. Rafa and Novak are Geminis, they think and change a lot. So is Steffi Graf. There might be something in that mercurial temperament that helps in tennis.
1. His serve doesn't hurt like it used to.
2. A defensive backhand - It's not low or fast enough. His attacking backhand is often leading to many unforced errors when his rivals stick him on that side, as Djokovic did in the Indian Wells semis.
3. Distracted focus - It's one of his biggest issues of the moment. While he can still play some matches at a very high level, he also can play others in which he commits a lot of unforced errors.
