Quick start in Miami

26.03.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger made an great start into the Miami Masters today, defeating Radek Stepanek 6-3, 6-3.

Roger scored early breaks in both sets, adding a third one in total to clearly dominate the match. His first serve was a strong weapon as he reached 70% of first serves.
With the victory - Roger's 762nd - he joins Pete Sampras on place number 7 in the ATP records. But our champ is still 480 victories short of Jimmy Connors' who leads the ranking.!

Roger will meet Juan Monaco in round three in Key Biscayne. He leads the head-to-head 1-0 against the Argentinian so far.

Would like to add: Murray's recent problems are tied to his poor serving. Nadal is struggling since the USO because his serve isn't firing like it was back then. Djokovic is playing well, because his serve is working great again. The serve is so crucial, and you used to be the best server 4-5 years ago, even more consistent than Roddick and other big servers. So c'mon champ, work extra hard on making your serve deadly again and then there will be a great chance for u to win the FO and Wimbledon!

Finally, your serve looks fiery again. This year your serve has been dodgy, lacking pace and consistency. You used to serve almost as big as Pete 3-4 years ago! Its going to be the key to your success. I have been following you from the beginning, and I know that when you serve in high 60s or above with pace and venom, your whole game goes up a gear or two. So keep up the good work Roger, nice to see you looking sharper than before.
