Roger reaches quarters

30.03.2011 | Starseite 1, Tennis

Roger easily defeated Olivier Rochus in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 to reach the quarter-finals of the Miami Masters.

An almost never-ending match between Maria Sharapowa and Alexandra Dulgheru pushed the start of Roger's match into early Wednesday morning. Our champ finally wrapped up his victory at 1:29 a.m. as it took him just 52 minutes to win this match thanks to scoring 88% of the points on his first serve. He already secured his first break after 11 minutes and bagged the first set after 26 minutes. In the end, he had 32 winners, losing only five points on his own serve.

Roger's opponent in Thursday's quarter-final will be France's Gilles Simon.

Well done, Roger. Was stuck in the metro on the way to work when you played and it went by so fast that it was all over when I got to work so couldn't even peek at the live stream from work. Roll on, Maestro!

It was a long wait last night
the match ran into the wee hours of the morning
But I stayed awake and watched you beat Olivier in your inimitable style
Rochus did his best but he couldn't stand up to your brilliant attack.

Tomorrow will be Simon's turn , don't let him chip away at your confidence
He is a strong player but you're the maestro !

We'll be watching . You can and you will win this match

Hi Roger,

Congrats on the win! I didn't watch the match as it was too late and I had to go to work the next day. Why couldn't the tournament director move you to another stadium? I wonder how many people watched the late night match.

Next up is Simon. Just like Karlovic, Simon is a nightmare to all the players. He is quick, consistent and has very few errors. So, the match with him will be a low-error match. Be sure to cut your errors and attak his serve or whenever you have a chance.

Hi Honey!! Today I've tried a Jura Coffee machine for the first time and it's like you: elegant, precise and with a great taste. I remind me of you so much: Pure Swiss PeRFection.
