A clear loss against Rafa

02.04.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger suffered a clear 3-6, 2-6 loss against Rafael Nadal in the semi-final of the Sony Ericsson Open in Key Biscayne.

"It just got worse and worse. And when I had a chance I simply played too weak. Today was nothing to write about, I'm afraid," Roger commented. "I know that I can do many more things in the game. I'm very excited by what's to come still."

It was no easy task playing against a very strong Nadal as the Spaniard never dropped his serve and converted four of five break-point chances, committing only 10 unforced errors. Roger counted a total of 31 unforced errors and shanked several shots.

Next on Roger's schedule is the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters which starts in a week and opens the clay-season for Roger.

Jennico. I agree. People forget that Roger has reached the semi's and finals etc. And they forget all that he has achieved. I cannot understand why people dont see that Roger cannot and will not go on "Winning" everything forever!!!.( though it would be nice). The fact taht he is still playing (after achieving so much)and still making it to Semis and Finals is further testiment to his champion qualities and an achievemnt in itself.

Posters speak too much of Roger's "losses...please keep in mind that in the last 7 months, he has reached the semis or better in all the tournaments that he played

Roger is awesome, it just wasn't his day... we're here to be his support not his couch to tell him what to do or how to play... so comments like "work on your backhand" "your footwork itsn't good" are not quite good... coz you!? that doesn't even play tennis are telling Roger Federer - the best tennis player in whole history how to play?

big support, and best wishes for you and your family
your diehard fan :)

Roger,
First time, I saw you was when you played Kiefer at Indian Wells in 2004. I could not believe my eyes when I saw you be in the doubles alley off your backhand side hitting forehands. He tried to go to your forehand and that was a mistake because you could cover it!!! Nada and Djokovic go after your backhand now. You either have to have better footwork or you have to slice. Last time I saw you was in US Open semis and your sliced Djokovic to 3 straight set victory.
Good luck on clay

Dear Roger, Have u ever thought about changing the rackets? I think that it could reduce your unforced errors and can produce more power than the present one.

Monte Carlo: Roger gets Kohlschreiber (or Golubev) first, as usual Nadal gets a qualifier. Don't doubt Roger can come through, but it does seem weird how this pattern repeats itself.

After final Djokovic said he needs a rest, and it was obvious that he was exhausted. With this style of play is difficult to endure the entire season, and eventually come and injuries.
I agree with DUTCHLADY.
After the defeat Nadal in Miami, CNN reporter posed the question: Is Nadal still king of clay? I would like to you, Roger, give me an answer to this question is NO!
I wish you all the best, as always.
