A clear loss against Rafa

02.04.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger suffered a clear 3-6, 2-6 loss against Rafael Nadal in the semi-final of the Sony Ericsson Open in Key Biscayne.

"It just got worse and worse. And when I had a chance I simply played too weak. Today was nothing to write about, I'm afraid," Roger commented. "I know that I can do many more things in the game. I'm very excited by what's to come still."

It was no easy task playing against a very strong Nadal as the Spaniard never dropped his serve and converted four of five break-point chances, committing only 10 unforced errors. Roger counted a total of 31 unforced errors and shanked several shots.

Next on Roger's schedule is the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters which starts in a week and opens the clay-season for Roger.

Dear Roger, Please try to focus on your game in Monte Carlo. Try to reduce your unforced errors, play your aces at the right time, use tact to deceive your opponent and you will be on top of your game. We all know that yours is not power play; we don't want it to be one too. We want to watch your magnificent game plan and WISH YOU ALL THE BEST.

Hey boy,
Djokovic did not sign up in Monte Carlo so you have to defeat Rafa in the final and win the trophy; you have no way after what the hell you’ve done in the beginning of 2011.
Your fans want and need to see only you in the place of world number one

Yes.. Yes..Yes.. I want Roger to win WIMBLEDON and USO this year too.. .. but I would be more happy if he reaches the final and win at Monte-Carlo.

i don't think djkvc is injured. i think he is resting. he wants to win the FO. i hope if roger loses here, it is to someone other than nadal. that will just give the critics something else to talk about. anyway, i hope roger wins. i don't care that much though about monte carlo. i want roger to win WIMBLETON and the USO this year and i will be happy. GOOOOOOOOOOOO ROGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Roger is always one of the favorites on Clay (second best). So Djoker withdrawing doesn't make a difference to Roger. Roger won 5 Master's 1000 on Clay as opposed to Djoker's 1 and won French Open once (3-times Runner-up).

I don't think there is any reason to celebrate the fact that Djokovic has withdrawn from Monte Carlo. He sure has earned enough points and the right to skip a non-mandatory tournament and take a little time off to recuperate and celebrate his two latest titles a little more. And I am not sure that I like fans saying that 'this is Roger's chance'. Roger allways is a candidate for the title.

That's what happens if you don't listen to your body and push it beyond limit (not sure if they take any "performance enhancers"). It once happened to another top player two years ago. Our Champ knows how to stay within limits no matter what happens (even when losing).
