Roger cruises into quarters

14.04.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger defeated Marin Cilic 6-4, 6-3 in Monte Carlo today and has booked his spot in the quarter-finals.

Roger continued his swift trek and needed only 36 minutes to win the first set. He was in control of the match even though he did face his only break point of the day in the opening game of set two. Both players recorded 13 winners, while Roger made only 10 mistakes, compared to 27 errors by Cilic. Our champ wrapped up the match after 70 minutes when Cilic's forehand sailed long.

"I thought Marin did well, actually," Roger commented after the match. "I thought he had a good mix going and I thought we were both serving well. I was really happy with the performance at the end."

On Friday, Roger will either face Jürgen Melzer (ATP 9) or Nicolas Almagro (ATP 12).

If you played each point with courage and determination and still lost, it would have been a gracious defeat.I don't expect you to win every tournament because that is impossible.I do think though that there has not been much improvement in your game since getting a coach, whilst Novak is on a dream run ofcourse and Nadal improves bit by bit with each match and tournament.Do others feel the same?Or is it just plain lack of form which is temporary?

Bull shit
You have to stop playing TENNIS.
What was that fucking play???????????????????????????????????

You did it on purpose, didn't you....?.

Very disappointing in that you never fought for each point and 0/7 on break points with mainly unforced errors was terrrible. It is hard to imagine that someone who wants to reclaim no.1 ranking can play with no emotion, energy, and expect to achieve their goal. For the first time I actually stopped watching because I knew the end result already.Easy to change this - FIGHT FOR EVERY POINT LIKE IT WAS YOUR LAST.Only good thing is that you have time off to improve on your game.

Stop talking shit, if you guys ever been a tennis player you would know what it takes to play every match at the same level. Impossible! I agree Roger is fading, but it is his decesion how long he keeps on playing this wonderful sport called tennis. Go Roger, you can still do on both grass and hard!
