Roger defeated in semis

07.05.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger had to accept another defeat against Rafael Nadal today. He lost the semi-final in Madrid 7-5, 1-6, 3-6.

Roger was in trouble in the very first phase of the match, falling behind 0-2. But our champ then started mixing things up and gradually upped his level to break back in the eighth game. He did get into trouble once more as he trailed 0-40 at 5-5, but a series of attacks and first serves saved him just in the right moment. After several fantastic returns on Nadal's serve, Roger secured another break and finally the opening set. Roger saw plenty of break-chances in the second set. But failing to make use of any of them, Nadal easily leveled the match to 1-1. The third set offered plenty of opportunities for Roger to take the lead or come back onto the board - but unfortunately he was not able to take it all the way.

Roger will play the tournament in Rome next week, before the start of the French Open - the second Grand Slam of the season.

So well done to djoker for his winning streak etc etc BUT I cannot bear to watch another final like that where there is no flair or variety just ball bashing and long tedious rallies. Give me ROGER'S first set against nadal any day over that.

Rog you are tennis, as for the rest ...they may have more points right now but they are just too boring to watch for me.

Buona fortuna per Roma xx

What I can say.?
I think that you are not physically prepared for tough matches.
Lacks oxygen, that makes it late to balls that came before without problems.
Depletion also makes decisions that may not be the best.
Of course this happens in games against Nadal or Djovick, but if you wants to win a Masters Series or Grand Slam, is the only way.
That's my humble opinion

Traine your service devolution! Too many free points to yours oponents. Nadal second service is week and you must hit the ball over the net!
And your backhand too! Too many unforce erros!

All the pressure is on Nadal. Yes, you have nothing to lose. Relax and show us real tennis.
Time for another title.

At the beginning of the year McEnroe said that Djokovic has to work hard to reach Roger and Nadal. His "best player ever" can not beat Novak on any surface, now. He looks vulnerable and tired, it seems to me that he started paying the price for his style of play.
Roger, final without you are too long and uninteresting. Stop it.

Remember :)
if you play in Rome against Nadal or Djokovic:
"You have nothing to lose"

Congratulations for your tennis in Madrid Roger!! The macht against Feliciano Lopez was one of the best tennis match that I have seen never.
I believe that yo can defeat to Nadal or Djokovic:
"In the net" and being concentrated the 100% of the match.
Don`t be afraid!!! tennis = entertainment

The same happened in the past when Federer was nr1 and nr2
so be a little honest. If Federer had more victories the world would look
more bright for him.

Hi Roger. Well Novak beat Rafa. So No, Rafa is not unbeatable. Either is Novak, he is just playing super well at the moment. I dont think he will last, he doesn't have the stamina, consistency or constitution to keep it up long term. Novak broke Rafa's winning streak on clay, So in Rome it's your turn to break Novak winning streak!!!!.
