Roger cruises through

11.05.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger defeated France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-4, 6-2 today to book a spot in the next round in Rome.

Roger secured an early break in the first set and had no trouble bringing it home 6-4 after 43 minutes, even though Tsonga had two chances to re-break. In the second set Roger saved seven of the seven break points he faced as he came up with great serves when necessary. After 83 minutes, Roger used his second match ball to win the match 6-4, 6-2.

Our champ will now play Richard Gasquet (ATP 16) on Thursday.  The two have met nine times before and Roger is leading the head-to-head 8-1.

Good to see our champ is playing better and better. Madrid showed it and now at a slower sand surface (then Madrid) we are all happy to see Roger can stay on that level. Very promosing for Roland Garros but even more for Wimbledon where we hope to see Roger holding the trophy again. Good luck Roger

Great game against Tsonga. You produce some stunning shots when your focused and fluid (def. a substance that continually flows under shear stress). Another step forward on the way to Paris and Wimbledon. Best of luck.

Keep being fluid with an indestructible life force that changes one's destiny.

Agassi did not win the French Open until he was 29 years old and from there...went on to play his best tennis.

Changing the subject, during your 'down time' in Rome, here is my Youtube video:
