Roger defeated in round three

12.05.2011 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger has dropped out of the Rome Masters in round three, losing 6-4, 6-7(2), 6-7(4) to Richard Gasquet. Our champ made a number of uncharacteristic errors against his French opponent, who he had beaten in their previous eight meetings.

"I should never have lost this match," said Roger. "He knows how close he came to losing. I had multiple chances but I couldn't make the difference. I thought I was playing well but he served better toward the end and hung in there. I didn't feel I could break and it's no fun to play like that".

Roger started into the match well and broke Gasquet in the seventh game of the first set before serving it out. In the second set he already had a 4-2 lead when Gasquet fought his way back into the match and even taking the tiebreak. The third set also had to be decided in a tiebreak where Roger just committed too many errors in the end.

Up next is the second Grand Slam tournament of the year: Roland Garros. "I'm looking forward to a few days to stay mentally and physically fresh and practice very hard" said Roger.

Half the job is done as far as federer is concerned.. federer till semis need not worry about soderling , nadal, berdych, del potro, djokovic, murray and if monfils has a great day he can take out ferrer so the passage to semis is certain... while we can hope that del potro or berdych takes out djoko and soderling takes out nadal....then french is almost in federer's hands... i mean federer has the easiest draw amongst the top 4

ALL THE BEST ROGER.
DONT UNDERESTIMATE ANYBODY IN THIS CHAMPIONSHIP, LEAST OF ALL YOURSELF.!!
YOU ARE THE BEST AND YOU CAN WIN THIS TITLE AGAIN. YOU SO DESERVE IT.
CONCENTRATE HARD AND PUSH FOR THE WIN AND NO-ONE, AND I MEAN NO-ONE CAN BEAT YOU.

Fed lost to Nadal at AO and people start saying how can he beat Sampras reccord when he can even tight it. Fed asked them: " Do you know the dimension of my game". Fed continue to say that he think tony roche gave them all a clue about myself. tony roch said fed become a better player as he gets older. I do not see any decline but he just doesn't have the same mental stregh.

if fed can get his mental back and keep doing what he is doing, all other players will look lika a joke.

i my pervious comment i meant federer's draw is far easier than nadal or djokovic

Well lets put it this way federer's draw is far easier than nadal or federer..

Federer most likely need not bother about Murray, del potro, berdych, soderling, and if monfils has a great day.. then he need bother about ferrer as well... I i were annacone i would be very very happy with the draw...
