In just 63 minutes Roger had made the decision who would be the first player to proceed to the semi finals at the Tennis Masters in Hamburg clear. He beat Spain's Carlos Moya clearly 6:4, 6:3, underlining his status of the number one player in the tournament. In the round of the final four Roger will now face Australia's Lleyton Hewitt WAY TO GO ROGER! Roger has taken another step towards the final in Hamburg by beating Chile’s Fernando Gonzalez 7:5 and 6:1. ‘For the first time this year I have managed to play a match on clay that I am entirely satisfied with’ Roger said happily. Having to play against Carlos Moya in the quarter final will be a tough one. All the best, Roger! Roger had made it to the third round by beating Ecuador’s Nicolas Lapentti 6:3, 6:3. ‘I was able to concentrate better than during my first match’ said Roger, after having showed excellent tennis yet once again. After a rather exhausting win Roger has made it to the second round of the Tennis Masters in Hamburg. He had to work hard to defeat his opponent from Argentina, Gaston Gaudio, in three sets 6:1, 5:7, 6:4. After a good start Roger lost his flow in set two but became more secure again after that. The winner of 2002 stayed calm, waiting for his opportunities to bring home the victory against Gaudio who fought with all his power. ‘These kind of matches make you advance. It was a tough game and I think Hamburg was one of the coldest courts on the planet today’ said Roger, smiling. His next opponent ist another South American – Nicolas Lapentti.
