Roger books spot in semis

Roger has made it through to the semis of the French Open today thanks to a solid 6-4, 6-3, 7-6(3) victory against France's Gaël Monfils. He will now play Novak Djokovic on Friday.

 

Roger started slowly today and fell a break behind on his second serve. But it did not take him long to take control and score two breaks himself to secure the first set. The two players exchanged breaks again at the start of the second set and it was finally Roger who took the set thanks to another break. Monfils dug deep in the third set, but our champ raised his game in the tie-break to comfortably seal the victory.

Roger is now in for another match against Novak Djokovic whose stakes are high - he has won his last 41 singles and is just one victory short of the record of the best start into the season of all times.

Amazing performance Roger !! Wow. Excellent serving, ball striking from both wings..this win proves ur still in the mix at the very top. You hit out at Djoko today, you broke down his defense. People thought u couldnt do it anymore. U shut them good :)

You're peaking at the right time with Wimbledon around the corner. Anyway, ur the underdog agnst Nadal like u were today, so I hope u go out without pressure and enjoy the battle and give it ur best. Good luck and have a nice weekend champ !

I'm so glad your resounding and historic victory. Broke up with something that needs to be broken. I know you did it for you and Rafa. If my advice paid off earlier technical-psychological-physiological is because you have a great talent, strength and speed for several years as the first star. Pulsating match, I should say. Crowd's really on their feet profusely awed by the majestic plays, unflappable poise, and excellent tennis of the real GOAT! This gigantic win over the then invincible NO-vak will surely chime at the highest decibels for a long time. So mighty proud to be on Fed's camp. Onwards to the finals Rog!
